The new church known as International Church of Cannabis has taken over a former Christian church building and claims to be the first large venue in the world where cannabis can be legally consumed in a social environment. As the church for marijuana lovers is planning its official grand opening in Denver, Colorado on April 20 this year (world weed day).
The church is located in the Washington Park neighborhood of Denver Colorado, on 4-20 they will open the doors for the first time.
The church says it will “offer a home to adults everywhere who are looking to create the best version of themselves by way of the sacred plant.”
Members of the church call themselves Elevationists, founding member Steve Berke through the church’s website said:
Elevationist, Steve Berke said
“This is the first large venue in the world where people can legally consume cannabis in the social environment.” He continued, “we are making history here, undoubtedly, and we wanted to provide a place for Elevationists to feel safe to consume the sacrament of cannabis.”
“Our lifestance is that an individual’s spiritual journey, and search for meaning, is one of self-discovery that can be accelerated with ritual cannabis use. Elevationists claim no divine authority, nor authoritarian structure, therefore, those of all religious and cultural background are welcome to visit our chapel and take part in our celebrations.”
“Elevationalism is a new structure, basically we had some people that were dissatisfied with the way that organized religion works.”
Now with an official church being sanctioned, it won’t be long before they are opening in every state within the Union. It no longer matters whether or not the Federal government legalizes or decriminalizes the use and sale of marijuana. As the church grows, as it undoubtably will, the Federal government will be powerless against the “Sacrament of Cannabis.”
The group is trying to raise $100,000 to repair and upgrade the 100-year-old church building to make it accessible to those with disabilities.
