The #MakePVCEasy hashtag was created during the second edition of the Handle It Africa as a medium to report cases of prolonged delays in obtaining permanent voter cards (PVCs).

The social media conference, which was attended by predominantly young Nigerians, touched on topics centered around the use, reach, and impact of social media.

Some of the sessions included ‘Trends Shaping Political Decisions’, helmed by Olive Emodi, OAP, and ‘Using Social Media to Drive a Cause’ which was led by Akinyemi Ayinoluwa, a legal practitioner.

Adebola Williams, who sat in the special fireside session where the #MakePVCEasy hashtag was agreed upon, urged Nigerians to be better citizens and to better scrutinise elected public officials.

Speakers at the social media conference were Toyin Abraham, Daddy Freeze, Adenike Oyetunde, Adebola Williams, Kenny Blaq, Lasisi Elenu, Bolanle Olukanni, Bukunyi Olateru-Olagbegi, Sam Onyemelukwe, Adaora Mbelu-Diana, Leonard Eteh Ebute, among others.

The panelists’ discussions centered on the use of social media to initiate movements, push causes, serve as a springboard for the youth, and shape political narratives.

Singing off, Olufemi Oguntamu, Handle It Africa convener, closed the conference by saying that “the greatest power of social media is that everyone has a seat on the table”.
