National Association of Nigeria Students, NANS, has declared Monday lecture-free day for all students across the federation.

This is in protest against the continuous refusal of the Federal Government to accede to the request of the Academic Staff Union of Universitirs (ASUU).

The association which spoke through its National Public Relation officer, Comrade Azeez Adeyemi, at the secretariat of the Ogun State National Union of Journalists described the ruling government as a government of lies and crooks.

Speaking on the lingering strike of the ASUU, the association also attacked the governor of Ekiti state, Dr Kayode Fayemi for his comment on professors’ salary, describing the comment of the governor as sad.

“It is sad to hear the governor of Ekiti state saying that a professor is earning more than a sitting Governor. The point is that Governor Kayode Fayemi is carried away by the masses’ tax and public funds he enjoys; he also failed to read between the lines to hear the demands of ASUU.

“NANS will like to enlighten Governor Kayode Fayemi and the Nigerian government that ASUU is not asking for too much by demanding for revitalization of public universities and the issue of University Staff Schools, among many others things.

“NANS is however saying that the government needs to create a conducive environment for learning and research because this is where the strength of the country rest on,” he said.
